Key features
Modern country rather than reclaimed rustic. The Modern Farmhouse table puts a handmade solid oak top on a chunkier painted base, for a room that wants some weight without going full farmhouse kitchen.
The oak
The top is handmade from solid oak and finished in a dead clear matte lacquer that shows the warmth and character of the timber. The legs are solid oak too, painted rather than lacquered, which is what gives the base its softer, more traditional look. Light oak is the palest and coolest of the three, and it lifts a room that does not get much direct sun.
Build your own set
A set is a table plus the seating you actually want, priced together. Choose your table size first, then add dining chairs, bar stools or a tuck under bench, and the set price applies to everything you add alongside the table. Nothing is fixed, so you can mix chairs on one side with a bench on the other, which is usually the best use of a narrow room.
This set is built around an extendable table, so it seats its everyday number most of the time and opens up when you need it.
Living with it
The lacquered top is spill and stain resistant, so everyday spills wipe away rather than soaking in. Floor protectors are fitted as standard, and the legs are removable for getting the top through tight doorways.
Grain and knots are natural properties of solid wood. Every piece is unique, so colour and grain will vary from the photographs and from one table to the next. That variation is the point of buying solid oak rather than a printed finish.
Frequently asked questions
How many does it extend to?
It takes either one or two extension leaves, and each leaf is 40cm, so a table can grow by 40cm or 80cm. Each leaf seats two more people. The picker above shows the seat count for every size, closed and extended.
What sizes does this table come in?
4 sizes, every one of them extendable. The Spec tab lists the exact length, width and height of each one, so you can check it against your room before you order.
Will my chairs fit underneath?
Our dining chairs are 45.5cm wide. The Spec tab gives you a “Between legs” and a “Max chair” figure for every size of this table, so you can count how many fit along each side rather than guessing.
Can I change what is in the set?
Yes. Pick the table size first, then add the chairs, bar stools or bench you actually want. You can mix a bench on one side with chairs on the other, and the set price applies to everything you add alongside the table.
How is it delivered?
Free white-glove delivery to a room of your choice. You get a proposed date by SMS or email, a 3-hour window the day before, and a call 30 to 60 minutes ahead.
Can I return it?
Yes. 30 days, no quibble, and we collect it from you free of charge.
How do I care for it?
The oak is sealed with a dead matte lacquer, so it needs no oiling or waxing. Clean it with warm soapy water and a soft cloth, avoid harsh chemical cleaners, and keep hot pans off the surface. Blot spills rather than rubbing them, and keep it out of prolonged direct sunlight.
Does it need assembling?
Yes, and it is straightforward. Assembly typically takes around 15 minutes. Step-by-step instructions are in the Assembly tab on this page.
Care instructions
We’ve put together some simple steps you can follow to keep your new table looking beautiful for years to come.
- Avoid putting any hot pots or pans directly on the surface of the table.
- Avoid using any harsh chemical cleaners.
- Clean with warm soapy water.
The table is fully protected with a dead matte lacquer, so there’s no need for further maintenance.

Our white-glove service makes sure your order reaches you on time and in one perfect piece. Our trained delivery team will carry it to the room of your choice, and everything we sell is designed to pass through a standard doorway and hallway.
What happens after you order
Your order goes into our production schedule, and is dispatched to our logistics partner once it is complete. They will propose a delivery date by text or email, and you can accept it or move it to a date that suits you better.
Deliveries run between 07:00 and 21:00. You will get a three-hour window the day before, and the crew will call 30 to 60 minutes before they arrive.
Choosing your own date
You can ask for a preferred delivery date at checkout. We cannot promise it, because it depends on the routes our delivery partners are running that week, but we will get as close as we can.
Not quite ready for it?
House moves get pushed back and building work runs late. We can hold your order until you are ready - add a note at checkout, then message us about a week before you want it and we will prepare it for dispatch.
